Scholarship Program Administration

1. Purpose
- The GLDA Scholarship Program is established to support the educational goals of individuals related to GLDA members. This program is administered annually, contingent upon the availability of funds in the GLDA treasury.
- The Board of Directors is responsible for:
- Determining the total amount allocated for scholarships each year.
- Deciding the number of scholarship awards to be distributed annually.
- Scholarship applications will be distributed to all GLDA members.
- Members are responsible for sharing applications with eligible applicants who are an immediate family member to a GLDA member or related by marriage.
- Relationship: Applicant must be an immediate family member to a GLDA member or related by marriage.
- Member Status: The sponsoring GLDA member must be in good standing, defined as:
- All dues paid in full.
- Attendance and payment for at least one GLDA function in the year prior to the application, provided that GLDA has hosted at least four events during that period.
- Previous Recipients: Individuals who received a GLDA Scholarship in the previous year are not eligible to apply in the current year.
- The Board of Directors will review all eligible applications and select recipients based on criteria established by the Board.
- The number and value of scholarships awarded each year will be determined by the Board, based on available funds.
- Scholarship recipients will be notified by the Scholarship Chair.
- Awards will be distributed in accordance with procedures established by the Board.
- The continuation of the scholarship program is subject to the availability of funds in the GLDA treasury.
- The Board of Directors reserves the right to amend the terms of the scholarship program as necessary to ensure its effective administration.
